What and why.
I’ve not really engaged with the ‘wordy’ social media channels for a while, having abandoned Facebook during the fact-free, ranty, pre-Brexit years, and having only ever really dipped into Twitter to see what laughable lies the big orange clown was telling Americans. In recent times, Instagram has held my interest as a source of pretty pictures, largely without any political under-bollocks, and so that’s where I’ve stayed.
While interlaced with non-cycling holidays and the occasional National Trust garden, my own Instagram feed was - and will remain - quite heavily bike-based. While I was happy to share photos of rides through mud, snow and sunshine, I was always aware that some of my friends-and-family followers might not want too much detail about the specifics of tyre tread or tubeless sealant. As a result, I’ve splintered my account to include Coffee and Excuses, a cycling-specific feed where I can go full geek about not only cycling adventures, but the kit I use to facilitate them, and the accessories I use with the kit, and the reasons why. This site, then, is a place to collate the rest of that information, plus more words than would reasonably fit in an Insta post, should the need arise.
